The highlight of our last month of freedom for the summer was our California vacation. Even though we plan to go as long as we can every year, we never have enough time to see all of our family and friends. This year we tried to keep it super simple by spending as much time as we could at our favorite Santa Barbara and Ventura beaches, visiting family in Ojai, and catching up with old friends (as well as a few new ones). I made a point of lugging my Contax 645 with me across the country (along with my digital camera) and brought four rolls of Fuji 400H and Fuji Acros 100 that I told myself I had to shoot completely before the trip was over. On some outings I left the DSLR at home and relied entirely on film. What resulted is what you see above, and I am smitten. The last photo is my chosen photo for Week 35 of You Are My Wild, as well.
I am thrilled to be a new member in a group that posts monthly “What ____ looks like”. This is what our August trip to California looked like on film. It is a circle, and I hope you will take a chance and follow it along. Stephanie Moore is up next – enjoy!
