I met up in the fields with Delaney one thunder threatening summer afternoon. We dodged sprinkles, humidity and insects the size of my hand, but the pictures tell another story. Delaney is a cheerleader. I don’t mean a part time JV high school cheerleader (although she cheers in high school, too – she’s been a varsity cheerleader since she was a freshman). I mean a world champion cheerleader. The kind of girl who can do a back flip in your living room. The kind of girl who thinks nothing of being thrown 50 feet in the air. Don’t let her petite size fool you, she is as fierce as she is lovely. I can tell her strength and confidence are going to take her so very far.
